Kaylee's Baby Blessing

(Not sure why the pics of Kaylee's face are blurry)

We blessed Kaylee on June 5,2011. It was such a sweet experience. Josh was able to bless her and did such a great job. Kaylee is a very lucky girl to have a father who honors the priesthood and is able to give her blessings. I hope that as time goes by my girls will gain testimonies of blessings and the importance of a righteous priesthood holder giving those blessings. Kaylee looked absolutely beautiful in her blessing dress that Grandma Brown made.

After the blessing we went home and had a small luncheon with family members. A big thank you to all of those that helped with it and for coming and supporting Kaylee at this special time in her life. We look forward to who she will become and what she does with her time on this earth. Thank you for coming to our family. We love you Kaylee!

So Many Changes

I can't believe that Kaylee is already 2 weeks old. Where has the time gone. Well between diaper changes, feeding, caring for my energetic 2-year-old, grocery shopping, cleaning, school, and Josh's interview the past 2 weeks have been a little bit of a blur.

Josh had an interview in Blackfoot the day after Kaylee was born. One week after we brought Kaylee home from the hospital he was called and asked to come back for a second interview and was asked to bring me along. While there the four partners explained the company to me and asked if I had any questions. After that they presented Josh with a job offer! Yay! While he is finishing his last semeter he is working part-time and then after graduation he'll be full-time. Josh also got accepted into ISU's Macc program.

I am continuing to heal from the c-section but also am busy with the girls. They keep me going all day! I am usually the last one to go to bed and the first one to get up, but I figure it's okay because I'm taking care of our little family in the small ways that I can. So what is coming up for me? I'm going to go back to work starting the beginning of June and will work for a little bit until we move at the end of July. Thankfully my schedule works pretty well with Josh's. After we move I will become a full-time stay at home mom. It will take some getting use to but I'll love it. Right now while I'm still on maternity leave will help me adjust to it. It'll be weird not to work but like I said I'm looking forward to just being home with my girls.

Ashlyn is getting so big. I can't believe how much of a change I've seen in her since bringing Kaylee home. She loves Kaylee and frequently asks to hold her. She loves to grab Kaylee's hand and then tell us that Kaylee is tickling her. Much to my surprise Ashlyn has actually made more of an effort to talk since becoming a big sister. Her main regression areas are trantrums and simply whining.

Kaylee had her first appointment last Friday and weighed in at 8 lbs and measured 21 inches long. We will take her in again next Friday to be weighed and then she is good until her 2 month appointment. She eats like a champ and is still sleeping quite a bit. I've got to really start getting her to be awake more during the day so she'll sleep more at night. That is the goal these last few weeks before I head back to work. I think the biggest surprise so far with Kaylee is her hair color. It's definitely got orangish-red in it. It'll be fun to see what color it ends up being.

Life is truly good and challenging but all we need to do is remember to count our blessings each day.

Kaylee Marie Harmon

On Sunday May 1,2011 we woke up early to a big surprise. I was contracting and pretty sure I was in labor. I started having contractions at 1:30 am and by 5 am we were headed to the hospital to see what was going on. I kept telling Josh on the way to the hospital that if this was false labor I was going to cry and feel so stupid.
After 2 hours of being monitored the doctor came in and told us that he was going to admit us and let us try to VBAC and if I hadn't progressed after 4-6 hours then we'd c-section. Well after 12 hours of laboring we signed the papers to go ahead with the c-section.

Stats for Kaylee Marie Harmon:

Born May 1, 2011 at 4:08 pm
7 lbs 9 oz
20 inches long
APGAR Score 9,9

More Pictures!!!

Here are some more fun photos that we had. Please excuse the way I look, I never look good after my c-sections.

Easter 2011

The day before Easter we did 2 Easter egg hunts. The first one was at Aunt Melissa's (Brunson)house with her little family and her brother-in-law's family. It was fun doing crafts, cookies, and then the egg hunt. After we finished we headed over to Grandma Rasmussen's house for the second hunt. We had Aunt Rachel help Ashlyn while we took pictures and walked around. Let's just say we scored well in the candy department. I never thought it'd be possible to be sick of candy but trust me by the time we made it though 2/3rds of the stash I was getting sick of it and wishing never to see it again. I even threw out some of it.

On Easter morning we kept it more low-key. We didn't make a big deal about Ashlyn's Easter basket because we don't want that to be her main focus. We just set it out on the floor and waited for her to see it. She was still pretty tired when she noticed it and just went and sat down by it. We made a yummy breakfast together and enjoyed the Easter service at church.

Kids can say the funniest things at the wrong time

So we went to Utah this last week to visit family and have Josh talk with some people. While being pregnant and traveling isn't always the most fun thing to do with an overactive bladder it helps to have a two-year old with you to make you laugh. We had stopped at a gas station so that I could use the restroom and stretch my legs. I decided to take Ashlyn into the restroom with me so she could get out of the car for a minute. While in there another lady came in and in the most polite words passed gas in the stall next to us. The next thing I heard was Ashlyn saying in a very loud voice, "Eww...stinky!" While saying this she was scrunching her nose and waving her hand. It was so hard not to burst out laughing. I definitely made sure that we waited to leave the restroom until the other lady had left. I love this little girl and how she can make me laugh at unexpectedly.

Fun Pics

I sure love this little girl!

34 weeks and still standing, barely. Hoping the next 3-6 weeks will go by fast. I may be up to 150 lbs but I've only gained 23 lbs so far with this pregnancy. With Ashlyn I gained 45 lbs. Hopefully though I don't continue to gain 2 lbs a week like I did this last week or I'll be in trouble.

I think daddy-daughter dates will definitely include this type of activity. She was so fascintated with the fish even though they were already dead. Definitely not surprised that she wanted to hold it. We just took her to Cabella a few days ago and she was fascinated with a huge catfish. I should have taken a picture.

So anyone who knows Ashlyn knows that she loves cows. Sometime we are going to have to take her up to Josh's aunt and uncle's place so she can see them up close and maybe even get to sit on one, instead of sitting on this tiny thing.

Ashlyn was in our closet and found one of Josh's name tags from when he was at basic. I had to laugh when she came downstairs and I saw where she put it.

Thankful for Answers

We had our ob appointment today and it was great to have our provider explain why I've been having so much pelvic pain and pressure. The hormone relaxin helps a woman's body widen in the pelvis area and sometimes if a woman produces too much it can widen too fast which can cause a lot of pain in the pelvic and groin areas. That is what is happening with me as well as our little girl is already head down and sitting right where all the pain is. The only way to make it go away is to simply deliver the baby. The downside is that the pain will continue to increase as the baby continues to grow. Even though there isn't anything they can do to help me relieve the pain it's nice to know what's going on. Baby's growing right on schedule and has a strong heartbeat which we are thankful for. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy seems to have gone for the most part. It's so fun to think that she could be here in as little at 7 weeks and as much as 9 weeks. I can't wait to see what she looks like and to discover all the similarities and differences between her and Ashlyn. The goal between now and my next appointment is to continue to increase my red meats and greens to help bring up my iron levels and to finish going through some of the play things that were given to us and get them all cleaned up.

Update on Pregnancy

So I just had another ob appointment yesterday (26.5 weeks). I'm happy to report that all is going well with our little girl. Her heartbeat is strong (155)and she's still measuring big as well as sitting low. Was so excited when my doctor came in and told me that I didn't have to take the glucose screening. Where I didn't have issues last time and according to my weight and history with this pregnancy they aren't worried. I felt pretty spoiled not having to do it. I do need to increase my iron intake and start doing some pilates or yoga for the remainder of the pregnancy to help with leg cramps and pelvic pressure. Thinking of doing the prenatal yoga class on campus that's on tues. and thurs. but we'll see. Can't believe that after my next appointment that I'll be down to bi-weekly appointments. This pregnancy for the most part has gone by so fast! I'll post a 27 week pregnancy photo tomorrow.

Turning 2

I can't believe it but my little girl is 2, how did the time get away so quickly. Josh had to go to class so Ashlyn and I started out the day by me making her breakfast and getting things cleaned up so that we could play when daddy came home. After Josh got home we went and picked up her cake and got her McDonald's for lunch. She loved the pony in her happy meal and of course the french fries. After lunch we decided to open her presents and have cake before Josh had to go back to class. We almost didn't get a nap in because she loved her presents so much that she just played and played. After a nap we got ready to pick up daddy from class and then went out to Grandma & Grandpa Harmon's house. She enjoyed playing with her aunts and uncles and being sang to. We were unable to see my parents due to them not being home but she'll see them on Sunday. After a day full of fun and play she definitely clonked out. It was a great day and I'm so happy that she had so much fun. I can't imagine life without her, we are truly blessed to have her in our family. We Love you Ashlyn!
